Alhamdulilah, all praise is due to Allah!

I finally got the chance to finish off the lecture on Blessings of the Quran. Subhana’Allah, the blessings and the rewards of this noble book is truly amazing, and to think that one part of it is in our hands and the other with the noble scribes..is mind boggling. Will we take heed today and make the best of it..subhana’Allah, I ask Allah for us to not be the likes of the ones who the Prophet sal allahu sallam comes on the day of Judgment of ones who have neglected his book. Till next time, may we be of those who are raised in ranks and honored because of this book!

It’s a sign of their iman to see them happy when they listen to the Quran, recite it, and our immersed in its remembrance.

The Quran is the life of the heart and food of the soul.
If someone doesn’t believe in the Quran he is spiritually dead; even if he is breathing and walking.

Allah describes the Quran as “wakathalika ohaynaa ilayka ruhan min amrinaa” “This is how we have inspired you, with a ruh ( a spirit) from us. Allah describes the Quran as a ruh-a spirit, you were dead before, and we gave it to you. We gave you the real life, the life of the heart.

Allah describes the Quran as a spirit and a light. “Walakin Ja3alanohu bihI nuraa” We made a light…”

Quran gives life to the dead body and light. Light, because it guides people from the darkness of shirk, the darkness of kufr, the darkness of their desires, to the light of Islam, light of Iman, and the light of the worship of Allah.

Ayah: Yahu naas qad jata burhan min rabikum wa anazalana ilaka nuran mubeena- we revealed to you a clear light, shinning light.

Without the Quran mankind is in darkness, so powerful is the Quran, and so clear are its messages that Allah asks..knowing the answer “Wakayfa takfruoona wanta tusta3alhi ayatallah wa fikum rasullah…” How can you disbelieve in the revelation, here is a messenger among you reciting the book to you” ..and yet you disbelieve.

The muskrikeen asked the Prophet sal allahu sallam for miracles. The miracles are from Allah.

When the kufaar are sent to the fire of hell, the angels there will ask, “Alam yatikum russul…Have not messengers come to you reciting the book of Allah? Did you act upon the Quran, have you not received..and they warned you of the day. The angels are amazed that a person could reject the book of Allah. What excuses could you have on that day?

Its an integral characters of the believer to recite the Quran.

The prophet sal allahu sallam was commanded to recite the book of Allah, “utloo maa uhiya ilaka min khitaab “

The Prophet sal allahu salalm Inn amma maa ummurat bil laythee harama..wa umaratu wan atullawal quran”
1.) to worship the Lord of the house
2.) commanded to be among the Muslims
3.)  And to recite the Quran

An integral of iman, islam, the characteristics of the mumin that he continuously recites the book of Allah.

Allah says “Alltheena atayhanuhumal kitaab, yatuluho haqq tilwati olaika yuminoon bihi” Those who we gave the book, the recite in the manner prescribed.. ..and only these people.

Haqq tilwaati, this book can be recited in the wrong manner/right manner.

The characteristics, those who will go to jannah. Allah says they are those who “Innalatheena yatuloon kitaaballah” They are the ones who wa aqama salaat, wa anfaqoo mima razaqnahum siran wa a3lanaa”..

The Quran is the primary, one of the ways of increasing ones Iman. Waitha tulaat 3alim satatu imam” They the believers when the book of Allah is recited to them, their Iman goes up.  Just by listening it their iman goes, what do you think would happen when they recite it.

The revelations have stopped, but we should strive to study, learn, and connect with the Quran.

The mumin’s iman goes up, and they rejoice of the Quran.

Whoever recites a harf of the Quran-a good deed will be written for him. Alif- one word, lam-one word, meem-one word.

The noble angels-whoever recites the Quran with the noble scribes. The one who recite the Quran-stumbling, stuttering, trying hard-even he will get a double reward. No one loses when reciting the book of Allah.

Parables of the those who recite the Quran.

Uttirjuoot-long, beautiful, good smell- mumin-a citrus fruit. Taste is good, smell. When your dealing with it, you will benefit, and you will always obtain some benefit from them.

A dried update- a mumin who doesn’t recite the Quran. It doesn’t look good-inside, its pure and good. He has iman in them.

A hypocrite that recites the Quran.  – A rayhaan- a plant that gives off a beautiful smell, but bitter inside.  He has nifaaq inside- a false delusion because he is reciting the Quran, but to the core its pretty bitter.

A handlah: a fruit that doesn’t tastes good nor smells good.

The one that amazes the most is: the munifiqeen. Inall munifiqooon fil -lowest category in the hell-fire.
The munifiqoon-are filthy.

The Prophet sal allahu sallam allowed jealousy of one who recites the Quran.

A halal type of jealousy that makes you want to strive to khayr or to do good. One who acts upon the Quran.

Qaraykum manta 3alamul Quran…the best of you are the ones
Abu Abdurrahman a sulil- when he read the hadith, he dedicated himself to memorizing the book of Allah. -qiraat-hafs and asim-one of the narrators of qiraat. These people they are the best in this world, and the best in the hereafter.

Yujimabal quran yawumil qiyam-one of the who -The Quran will come, and say “oh my lord honor him, a crown will be his head, Oh Allah increase him in honor, a robe will be placed on him, and then the Quran will say Oh my Lord be pleased with him, and Allah will be pleased with him.”

The companion of the Quran-it will be said to him. Iqra, -recite, warqa- and continue to recite, -and recite as you use to recite in this dunya-your place in jannah-will be equivalent-to your station of Jannah-to the last part you recited in this dunya.

The Prophet sal allahu sallam says sahib-the companion-its one who you return to when you need help, this blessings is to the companion of the Quran. The one who will accompany the Quran in every aspect of their lives.

The Quran is a witness for you or against you.
The first person to be thrown -shahid, hafiz, and gave his money-why because of riyaa-showing off, and not giving for the sake of Allah.

You memorize and act upon it.-This is the real companion of the Quran.

Some of the companions thought there were-levels of jannah that are equivalent to the Quran. No one can occupy a level higher then the hafiz of the Quran-the companion of the Quran-this was the opinion of the companions.  Ex.) Inna a3danaa kal kawthur..etc..if you implemented you can go be raised 3 levels.
The Prophet sal allahu sallam, Whoever wishes that he loves his Prophet sal allahu sallam and Allah, then let him recite this Quran.

Along with these blessings, there is a responsibility. The Quran is either a blessing for you, or if you neglected it, it will be a testify for you or against you.

Wa qalu rusal ya rabbi itaqatho…The Prophet sal allahu sallam, he will come and say my own people took this quran and neglected this quran. Its not only to the mushkrikeen, its to anyone who will neglect this book. Look at who is complaining. And to who he is complaining to-Allah.

You claim to believe in it, but don’t act upon it. Do we recite it, do we act upon, etc.

Furqan, the noor, the shifaa-all of it, what kind of understanding do grasp from it.

We decorate it with the most beautiful decoration, finest paper & pen- the best decoration of the heart is the Quran itself!

The Quran will not remain neutral-Allah will raise people by this book, or lower others because of it.

The Quran is an intercession-whoever puts the Quran in front of him-will lead him to Jannah, whoever leaves the Quran behind him, then the Quran will drag him to the hell-fire.

It will benefit you, or testify against you!

The Prophet sal allahu sallam said, The Quran is evidence for you, or against you. Its your evidence-it will honor, increase you in goodness, or it will complain against you-never cared about it.

Think about it, and ask yourself where you are when it comes to Allah’s book.

The one who memorizes, understand, and acts upon, and knows more than Quran then one who hasn’t memorized the Quran. The more important aspect, is understanding meaning, and acting upon it.

A sahib of the Quran is one who memorizes the Quran-is with the Quran, turns to the Quran for everything in their lives.

Allah describes the people of knowledge are ones who memorized- These ayats are preserved in the hearts of those of knowledge.

If the Quran is enclosed in the heart of a person, the fire of hell will never touch it. Meaning that person memorizes the Quran.
Ibn Mas3ood said: the one who hasn’t memorized the Quran is like a ruined house.

Are some verses more blessed then other verses?

Ayatul Kursi-Greatest verse in the Quran.
Fatihia, most blessed Surah of the Quran.
Surah Tabarak-that it will protect a person -recites, acts upon it, will protect some from the trails of the grave.
Falqah, Naas- protect ourselves from black magic.

Make a point of reading the Quran when no one else is there. Do it when no one else there, try to do this, privately, so there is no issue of showing off. Make a habit of reciting the Quran.

Alhamdulilah, I’ve had the pleasure of listening to various lectures in the last week or so, and masha’Allah I must say I’ve enjoyed them all. Aside from the usual audio islam lectures, I’ve come across some wonderful lectures on the TDC site from the previous year=http://www.texasdawah.org/DOWNLOADS/AudioLectures/tabid/282/Default.aspx. Beautiful topics and discussions, practically everything for the whole family, the parents, wives, husbands, children..etc.

The lecture below, from audio islam holds a special place in my heart as its about Aisha r.a., one of the many beloved wives of the Prophet s.a.w. Its about a story of courage of a young wife and her determination against rumors and her journey in convincing her community and her husband of the truth. May Allah make us the likes of Aisha r.a, who against all opposition stuck to the truth untill Allah came to her aid.

Story of the Ifk: Part I

  • Our whole way of life, aqeedah, manners, is all from the Prophet s.a.w. And its from the hikmah of the Allah to bring a man to show us the way of things.
  • One of the strongest ways of increasing in our Iman, is to read/learn about the Seerah of the Prophet s.a.w.
  • When we hear about the strength, courage, Iman, resolve, reliance on Allah, his s.a.w. miracles- ones Iman boosts up.
  • Best book: Ar-Rihil Muqtoom (authentic-very well written)
  • So much lessons to extract from/analyze
  • 1st story: very moving/traumatic state in the Prophet s.a.w. family
  • So much happened- our hearts soften, see the pain all who were involved and went through. Aisha r.a., Abu Bakr r.a, and the Prophet s.a.w himself
  • Ifk: means slander
  • Happened on the 6th year, Qazwatul Mur3at-the expedition the Prophet s.a.w. took part in.
  • Allah brought down -20 verses speaking about this incident, Imam Bukhar-narrated in his book. Aisha r.a herself narrates-authentic story for us to know about.
  • The chain: Imam Bukhari to Imam Ashihab Az- Zuhri to Urwat ibn Zuybar to Said Ibn Musayid to 3alkama Ibn Waqqas to Baydil Ibn Abdullah (4 people all of them narrated from Aisha r.a)
  • Imam Ashihab Az-zuhri-one of the most famous Tabi3ul -after the first generation (he narrates from the most famous Tabi3een)
  • One of them, Urwat Ibn Zuyabar is the nephew of Aisha r.a (Urwat’s mother was Asma bint Abi Bakr )
  • Ibn Shihab says he heard all four of them tell him the same story, each one said it in great detail, some of them gave details that others didn’t give.
  • Combining all the information and making it into one collective story-permissible.
  • Aisha r.a. said whenever he went anywhere who would cast out lots to see which wife would go with him. This is shows his just ways (according to many Ulamaa the Prophet s.a.w was exempted from the rule of being just with all his wives-equality all over), Yet despite this fact, he still practiced-he voluntarily fair with all of them-one night for each-spending time-equality etc.
  • Casting lots is halal if the means for which you do it for his halal, if the means for which to do it are haram, then casting lots becomes haram.  I.e gambling.
  • The Prophet s.a.w would even take his wives for expedition-even during time of war, with the condition that the chances that they were going to win was strong, if danger high he would take them.
  • Aisha r.a  name came up, and she was to accompany the Prophet s.a.w, this was after the revelations of the ayahs pertaining to hijab, therefore she traveled in her howdaj-small tent placed on top of camel.
  • This shows that in general men aren’t allowed to look at women-even if in hijaab-shows as to why Aisha r.a was placed in howdaj. She had a protective barrier.
  • After the expedition, the Prophet s.a.w gave orders to camp outside medina for the night, and in the morning enter the city. (It was the sunnah of the Prophet s.a.w to not enter medina at night, he s.a.w would actually tell the companions to not return from a trip at night. He s.a.w would say do not scare the people of the household. Meaning to camp outside, and news would spread in town that they are back.)
  • Aisha r.a continued-when the orders where given to settle down, she went to go and relieve herself -when she came back she felt her neck and found that her onyx necklace had broken-she went back and was delayed in looking for the necklace. In the meantime the people, who were assigned to carry the howdage had already placed on the camel presuming that she was already in it. And during those days women were very thin, and they hadn’t put on a lot of weight, they use to eat a morsel of food, so the men didn’t question the lightness of the howdage. She was also young.
  • When she returned, the group had already left.
  • (Sunnah: relieving far away, where no one else can see)
  • The simplicity of Aisha r.a.-necklace-quartz-wasn’t gold etc.
  • Another lesson: not wasting money-the necklace was simple but Aisha r.a didn’t waste it, and instead went to go look for it. The lesson in not wasting our money.
  • Aisha r.a. -made excuses for her muslim brothers in their mistake of leaving her behind.
  • She stayed in her place thinking that they would return for her once they realized she was missing.
  • While she was waiting, she fell asleep. One of the campanions Safwan ibn Sulaamee was lagging behind from the army-he didn’t get up early with the army-he walked up to the place where Aisha r.a was sleeping and saw the shape of a person sleeping, when he saw her, he had recognized her, as he remembered her from before the revelations-verses of hijaab.
  • When he recognized her, Aisha r.a . was awakened by his exclamation of “Laa hawla Wala Quwata” And she covered her face with her outer garment.
  • Bravery/Intelligent: She stays where she is thinking
  • Sunnah: of saying “Laa hawla Wala Quwata”
  • Verses of pertaining to hijaab-shows when verses of  hijaab was revealed the woman covered their faces.
  • She covered her face with her outer garment after she saw him. Those modernist who claim that the “niqaab” was invented by Persians, and sayings that the niqaab didn’t exist during the time of the Prophet s.a.w are incorrect, as this hadeeth is found in saheeh Bukhari-very authentic.
  • Lesson: Whether one says niqaab was wajib or not, it was still there and placed in practice during the Prophet s.a.w time.
  • She said that they didn’t speak to one another at all and she didn’t hear anything from him except, “Laa hawlaa walla quwata”, then she mounted the camel, and he guided it back into medina.
  • Abdullah ibn ubay ibn Sulool (the leader of those who spread rumors of Aisha r.a.)
  • He was the leader of the hypocrites=Abdullah ibn Ubay ibn Sulool
  • Lesson: The manners and ways of Sufwan in that he didn’t even speak to Aisha r.a. Also shows the tough position Sufwan was placed in that he knew something had gone wrong, but he didn’t want to leave Aisha r.a by herself. The only intelligent thing that he could do, was to take Aisha r.a back to the caravan.
  • After that when Aisha r.a arrived to Medina, she fell with a fever for a whole month. She didn’t realize what happening, or rumors. She was about 16 years old. The inhabitants of Medina were all talking about things, Aisha r.a was secluded in her home.
  • She didn’t know what was happening but she was hurt in not seeing the tenderness that she use to see from the Prophet s.a.w when she was sick. He s.a.w. would enter upon them-the women tending to Aisha and her and ask them “How are all of you doing?”, then he s.a.w. would leave.
  • Lesson: The confusion from the Prophet s.a.w-he hears the rumors and he knows his wife, but doesn’t know what to do. He leaves it alone, and doesn’t talk about the subject as Aisha r.a is sick.
