Alhamdulilah

Posted: January 13, 2009 in Ahh moments, Al-Utrujjaat

Bismillah,

Alhamdulilah, All praise is due to Allah. My father passed away today. Indeed, the greatness of our Lord is shown in the passing of souls/bodies from this world and the entrance of a newly born on earth.  All praise is due to Ar-Rahman. Subhana’Allah, Allah subhana’ wa tala is great, and He’ll bestow upon us toil after toil, but tis only when your ready for it, as Allah does not bestow upon the believer that which He cannot handle. Truly, the timing and the ways in which Allah works is amazing…a couple days ago, I kept having a specific hadeeth run in my head again and again..that of the Prophet sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam when his son Ibrahim had passed away, and of his statement in that “the heart is sad, the eyes cry, but the mouth only speaks that which pleases Allah” QadarAllah ma shafa3al. Today, earlier this morning I thought about how Allah has shaped all of us, knowing our weaknesses-I thought of my own, which are many…and subhana’Allah I prayed to Allah to make me of those who act that which I preach (likeness of Ibrahim alayhi sallam), to be content with all that He has bestowed upon me, and to make me strong in dealing with my nafs. Alhamdulilah.

A dear friend of mine called me, to console me of the death of my father, and subhana’Allah I had no recollection of it as the news had not reached me yet. Upon this, the sister hung up-(bless her heart) and told me that someone would tell me soon, as I was in my car driving. Alhamdulilah, as I headed home in my car, scenarios ran in my head and I kept making dua to Allah, to ease this affair…to make it easy for my family and all of us…and for whatever it was to not make us weak and depressed and not be able to worship Him. When I received the news, I was saddened but subhana’Allah, I cannot describe the easiness that which I felt or still feel. Allah made it easy for me to handle this situation, and I ask Allah to make me stronger and be able to handle any other situation that may arise in the future.

Al-Utrujjaat: Did part of Second Juz of Baqarah earlier today. It was truly amazing…subhana’Allah. In just one juz, Allah mentions twice in calling out to Him, as well as not to follow the footsteps of shaytaan. Thats two and two. Two, in the sense that Allah speaks twice about calling out to Him, and that due to His power He will answer our dua. Another two, in light of the footsteps of shaytaan-Allah explicitly mentions not to do this as shaytaan is our enemy (twice). But the bigger picture and the message that I understood from this was that…Allah is constantly telling us the right path, calling us to it, and bringing us closer to Him, while warning us not to take the path of shaytaan. In the same way, I saw the mercy in which Allah is showing us the way, that if we end in following shaytaan then by His will we may call out to Him as He will rescue us. Subhana’Allah, the Quran was brought down as a reminder and for us to ponder over. The beauty of it…as my eyes darted on the pages, my eyes zeroed on the 4 verses mentioned above…and all of it on just one Juz!

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo odkhuloo fee alssilmi kaffatan wala tattabiAAoo khutuwati alshshaytani innahu lakum AAaduwwun mubeenun

2:208 O ye who believe! Enter into Islam whole-heartedly; and follow not the footsteps of the evil one; for he is to you an avowed enemy.

Ya ayyuha alnnasu kuloo mimma fee alardi halalan tayyiban wala tattabiAAoo khutuwati alshshaytani innahu lakum AAaduwwun mubeenun

2:168 O ye people! Eat of what is on earth, Lawful and good; and do not follow the footsteps of the evil one, for he is to you an avowed enemy.

Waitha saalaka AAibadee AAannee fainnee qareebun ojeebu daAAwata alddaAAi itha daAAani falyastajeeboo lee walyuminoo bee laAAallahum yarshudoona

2:186 When My servants ask thee concerning Me, I am indeed close (to them): I listen to the prayer of every suppliant when he calleth on Me: Let them also, with a will, Listen to My call, and believe in Me: That they may walk in the right way.

Faothkuroonee athkurkum waoshkuroo lee wala takfurooni

2:152 Then do ye remember Me; I will remember you. Be grateful to Me, and reject not Faith.

Subhana’Allah.

Till next time, May Allah the most High, join my father and all of us in Al-Firdous-where we may recline facing one another.

Noble Book…

Posted: January 12, 2009 in Ahh moments, Al-Utrujjaat

Bismillah,

Alhamdulilah, after a session of Al-Utrujjaat, I told one dear sister of how when we learn about the book of Allah, He makes it easy for us, but it is retaining it that is hard. The best way I found to retain material concerning both the deen and other studies is it teach it to others. Subhana’Allah, for me its a chance to look over material, re-visit forgotten verses, and then to convey it to others. Not only are the rewards that come from this great, but indeed it is the best way for one to be always immersed in that which they love and learned long ago. I ask Allah to bless us in our time and join all of us in gatherings where upon we remember His name.

Another awesome session…masha’Allah. Yesterday, at the saturday halaqah I was speaking about the hospitality of Ibrahim alayhi salam, and of today, the dear sister covering first juz of Baqarah went over some amazing topics dealing with this specific Prophet.

Some key points she mentioned, which were truly amazing:

Ibrahim alayhi salaam

1.) deen over dunya (Ibrahim: give them all these things, so they could establish salaah)

2.) True Tawakkul: He did  not forget the dunya- did everything-hajar-when he left he left them with things.

3.) He wanted a secure environment for his children.

4.) Ibrahim alayhi salaam would practice and then preach v.131′ aslaam’ to submit- (He said I submit, to all that which Allah has said) (first ayah, he submitted, then he advised his children to submit)

5.) He did Ihsan

6.) He wanted the next generation to be muslim

7.) He included his family in the works of the deen (his son, helped him built the kaba)

8.) He wanted his progeny to be leaders

9.) His concern for teaching the next generation (teach the ayah, teach the book, teach the hikmah, and purification) 2500 years.. (Ibrahim a.s. made dua for his progeny to be successful in the deen-dua answered 2500 years later. Our duas-we want it quickly , we want it as soon as we put our hands down, we are hasty, but forget that patience is rewarding and we have to wait for it.

10.) Dua =to accept and be pleased with.

Teach others about Allah’s deen
Shukr-thank Allah
Mention those blessings-Shukr

Sharah: The surah speaking of ease coming after hardship: -for the heart to comprehend what Allah has decreed and to be inclined towards it/accept-make heart to be content with it. Subhana’Allah, this defination of ease really made me stop and ponder. A lot of times, when we have situations that arise we tend to go a little hay-wire, but subhana’Allah true ease comes when Allah makes one understand in their heart that nothing gone be done about a situation or for Allah to give someone something in return-inclined towards it. And at that ease is also that which Allah gives someone in the form of being content…meaning happiness is placed in ones heart, and Allah put it there, no one can take it away but Allah, and in the same if the apposite is placed there then only Allah can remove it as well. All of it, anything and everything in between is from Allah. Imagine the mercy of Ar-Rahman….cannot even come close to comprehending the vastness and extent to which Allah fashions postions and situations for His slaves.

I ask Allah to join all of us, in that abode where neither sickness nor pain ever inflict the soul and body, i.e In Jannah may we meet again people! BithiniAllah.

Al-Utrujjaat

Posted: January 4, 2009 in Ahh moments, Al-Utrujjaat

Bismillah,

Alhamdulilah, Allah subhana wa tala grants His slave a new way in becoming closer to Him, the most High. A long time ago, I remember listening to shaykh Yasir Qadhi’s lecture dealing with the Quran, and as I recall, it was this wonderful lecture that I heard of the Al-Utrujjaat-the wonderful smelling fruit that is likened to the one who learns, acts, and becomes a companion of the Quran.

Al-Utrujjaat, the name used for project-made up of a group of sister striving in the way of learning this blessed book is what I’ve come upon today by some wonderful sisters, may Allah bless them and grant them to join ranks with those in the highest abode in Jannah. The goal is to read 5 pages a day from the book of Allah in ones weeks time, and then to follow up with gems, reflections, ahhh moments with one another at the end of the week as a group online. Alhamdulilah, I just completed my 5 pages a day now, how I love this amazing feeling! Its a feeling that comes from reciting Baqarah, and memories of Ramadan’s past…amazing, truly a ni3ma from Allah. This type of review grants me the ability to visit amazing ayahs that I’ve heard in years past-with deep and proufound reflections bithniAllah.

My reflection tonight: In the ayah below, Allah subhana wa tala tells the angels of what He plans to create and place in the dunya. As I recall from Rays of Faith, the shaykh explained of how when the angels heard this they were scared and had asked Allah subhana wa tala of how He could create this, i.e they were scared because in reality they had know what the Jinns had done in the dunya-of the fighting that had taken place. Allah subhan wa tala had replied to them that, He azza wa jalla had known what what they did not know. And this indeed, was the point that really made me think and stop…Allah subhana wa tala knows, meaning in light of any incident, situation, specifically the gaza situation , for whatever reason its occurring, Allah the most High, knows while we don’t. We cannot fathom the outcome, purpose, etc. but for us and in this moment of time, tis but nothing but a test, and with any type of test we should hold on and ask for patience as of magicians of bani Isreal called out to their Lord ” Our Lord! Pour out upon us patience and cause us to die as Muslims”

Waith qala rabbuka lilmalaikati innee jaAAilun fee alardi khaleefatan qaloo atajAAalu feeha man yufsidu feeha wayasfiku alddimaa wanahnu nusabbihu bihamdika wanuqaddisu laka qala innee aAAlamu ma la taAAlamoona

2:30 Behold, thy Lord said to the angels: “I will create a vicegerent on earth.” They said: “Wilt Thou place therein one who will make mischief therein and shed blood?- whilst we do celebrate Thy praises and glorify Thy holy (name)?” He said: “I know what ye know not.”

Lastly, I am reminded of the company one keeps and truly the joys found and striving to be those of goodness. The Prophet sal Allahu ‘alayhi wa salam was asked about a person who loves another but has not reached their level. The Prophet sal Allahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said: “A person will be with the ones whom he loves” And this hadeeth marks the type of brotherhood/sisterhood that we should all try to attain; i.e one of goodness and one marked with the love of the deen. May Allah make us of those who are joined only in goodness and meet for His sake.
