Making Dua, Setting Awesome Habits

Posted: November 8, 2009 in Ahh moments, Duas, Great Women in Islam

Bismillah,

Alhamdulilah, all praise is due to Allah, who bestows favors upon who He wills.

A while ago, I got addicted to the book (Great Women in Islam) concerning the woman who were given glad tidings of Jannah, and subhana’allah, in there I never forgot the dua the Prophet sal allahu sallam taught one of his wives Jawiyeria r.a. She was so pious and devout, that one she stood up to pray in the morning she would spend long hours making dua to Allah azza wa jala, and would sit there so long, that when the prophet sal allahu sallam left and came back, he sal allahu alayhi wa sallam would find her sitting in the same spot. He taught her one comprehensive dua, that till this day I memorized and recite in the morning! Subhana’Allah, this dua is powerful and so many other duas. We need to equip ourselves with all kinds of duas, throughout the day, a regiment of some sort, morning athkaar-when one wakes up, morning athkaars, evening athkars, and just before going to bed athkaar.

Here is the dua referring to above!

95. Subhaanallaahi wa bihamdihi: ‘Adada khalqihi, wa ridhaa nafsihi, wa zinata ‘arshihi wa midaada kalimaatihi. ”

“سُبْحَانَ اللهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ: عَدَدَ خَلْقِهِ، وَرِضَا نَفْسِهِ، وَزِنَةَ عَرْشِهِ وَمِدَادَ كَلِمَاتِهِ”.

Glory is to Allah and praise is to Him, by the multitude of His creation, by His Pleasure, by the weight of His Throne, and by the extent of His Words. (Recite three times in Arabic upon rising in the morning .)

I am on a quest to memorize duas from the husnul Muslim book, one a week insha’Allah. Alhamdulilah, tis wonderful!

Day 1: week 1 Invocations after the final Tashahhud and before ending the prayer

56. Allaahumma ‘innee ‘a’oothu bika min ‘athaabil-qabri, wa ‘a’oothu bika min fitnatil-maseehid-dajjaali, wa ‘a’oothu bika min fitnatil-mahyaa walmamaati. Allaahumma ‘innee ‘a’oothu bika minal-ma’thami walmaghrami.

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave, and I seek refuge in You from the trial of the False Messiah, and I seek refuge in You from the trials of life and death. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from sin and from debt.

Till next time, may Allah, the most forgiving and merciful, have mercy upon us, and join us in greatest of places; Al firdious Ala.
