Blast from the past

Posted: August 4, 2009 in Ramadan 2009

Alhamdulilah, All praise and thanks are only for Allah, the One who, by His blessing and favor, good works are accomplished. As we know the blessed month of Ramadan is fast approaching, and for all of us we want to get the optimum benefit from this amazing/awesome month.

With anything that is of importance we plan for it….so lets plan for this blessed month strategically! Subhana’Allah, this month is truly a time to rejoice, to have our duas answered, and for our sins to be forgiven. No one wants to come out the same way they were in going into it, we all want to be better people, and stronger worshipers at that!

Some things that have worked for me over the years..and some tips I’ve looking into of late…

1.)Quran: In TBA Shaykh Shependim stated how this month is so special because It is linked directly with the Qur’an and the Qur’an says so itself (2:185). Its a month where the Quran was revealed, so lets immerse ourselves in it! (A tip that really caught my eye: *

* Method: Read 4 pages of the Qur’an after every salah. 5 prayers X 4 pages = 20 pages. 20 pages= about 1 juz. 1 juz X 30= the entire Qur’an. (I am so going for this year insha’ i know after a while its tough to keep up!)

2.) Salaah-whether its Taraweeh/sunnah prayers/Qiyam/Tahajuud-this is such an awesome time to really get the most out of this important link. This is the link between you and Allah Azza wa jala-try your utmost to increase in khushoo and the quality of it this year.
~i.e Your attachment to Taraweeh & ability to have full khusho during it is one way to attain a remarkable Ramadan.

3.) Forgiveness: Ask forgiveness and moisten your tongue with rabigfirallahi’s, and istagfurallah’s all around. Also, it is a month in which Allah may cleanse all of our sins, and its a time to ask, also forgive others in this month, overlook their faults as indeed you yourself are asking the Lord of the worlds for it, so try your utmost to forgive others. Aim for the cleansed heart! The Prophet sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam said: الصيام جنة, fasting is a shield [Bukhari]. Fasting is not just about leaving food and drink, it is a shield for us from all kinds of vices–in speech and action.

4.) Last Ramadan: This goes two ways-1st think of this as your last Ramadan. Right now, many of us can think of loved ones who were with us last Ramadan, but now have returned to their Lord. Remind yourself that could have been you, and this year can be your last, so make the best of it. 2.) Think about the way you were before last Ramadan came around…do you see any changes in yourself? Ramadan is practice in aim for the best, and try to focus on specific things you want to change in yourself or just to make yourself stronger in the way of the deen.

5.) Dua: Make yourself a dua list! Seriously, make a dua list-categorize however you want and don’t hold back. List can be something rather…spiritual/personal/community and whatever else you can think of. ***Make Jannah #1 on your list*** Aim for that

6.) Sadaqah/charity! Its not the month of eating, but the month of feeding..meaning give as much as you can in charity this month!

There are just so many things to add onto this list, but insha’Allah, we can all continue to plan for this month in so many ways. Lets remind ourselves to always keep in the company of those who remind us of Allah most, and who call us to goodness in this blessed month. I can honestly say my favorite Ramadan’s of the past has always been in the company of those who racing towards the khayr! Be steadfast with your deeds and accumulate all you can in the way of Allah, just working insha’Allah. Also, there could be a day in Ramadan where you behind/or wasn’t so good…don’t let it turn into a whole of that! Be strong, and Keep going insha’Allah!

The title;.ramadan is a blast, it really is, subhana’Allah..its awesome, and now its coming back again
Insha’Allah, a reminder for myself foremost and then to you guys!

This video always reminds me of Ramadan/Taraweeh mode:

All the best insha’Allah, let the awesome/imanrush times begin…bismillah.
