A weekend of Blessing

Posted: May 4, 2008 in Progress

Alhamdulilah, Alhamdulilah for being given the opportunity to learn and teach at the same time. Subhana’Allah. This weekend, was unlike any weekend I’ve had in a very long time. Kinda like action packed, emanpacked, awesome-fun time packed. Basically, I got to really know some sisters who I have previously worked with as well as taken classes with. I learned a lot about myself in that I can be a team player, can be punctual when I put my mind to it, and I also remembered how much I loved this deen and in teaching it to others.

An outline of what I did and of the notes I took will be found below. The classes are basically from 9-1 on Saturday and Sunday.  I also teach a class on the Prophets, more specifically the Umbiyah as of right now, and will move on to the Seerah of the Prophet s.a.w. later on after the A class. Yesterday since it was my first attempt at teaching it, I did an introduction of “why we should learn about Prophets and the benefits “, and usually I cover the Musabiqaat section, which is basically in line with the ayah in the Qur’an referring to the Sabiqoon (those who Allah describes as competing in goodness), this section entails competition between the sisters on topics covered, last minute announcements and beneficial reminders. On Sundays, I cover the assembly part of our program, which is subjected to change from time to time, and basically entails me to give them beneficial reminders and lecture type style (will speak abt what i did this morning below). On Sundays I also cover hifdul Qur’an (memorization of Qur’an) with the sisters, which practically takes most of the time while were there.

My lecture notes from this morning is as follows: The Crossing: Day of Judgement

~Allah says in the Qur’an: Allah is asking a question: “Do you think I have created you for nothing (3abath), That you will not be returned to us?”

~Allah asks us, and He knows the answer

~The most important Day of your Life: Day of Judgement

~Allah uses diff. names to describe the Day of Judgement to remove the Ghaflaah (heedlessness) from the hearts of the people

=Al-Qariah: Strikes, loud, how loud you don’t know

=Al-Qurooj: We will come back, expel from the land

=Yawmul-hasarat: the regret–the Day of regret

=Yawmul-Deen: “Your Pay day”: the day you get your reward for good or bad

=Yawmul-Aqirah:the day of hereafter

~In Surah Zumar: Allah sums up our whole life in one this one ayah

Az-Zumar (The Groups) [39:68]

Wanufikha fee alssoori fasaAAiqa man fee alssamawati waman fee alardi illa man shaa Allahu thumma nufikha feehi okhra faitha hum qiyamun yanthuroona

39:68 The Trumpet will (just) be sounded, when all that are in the heavens and on earth will swoon, except such as it will please Allah (to exempt). Then will a second one be sounded, when, behold, they will be standing and looking on!

And also Allah asks:

  • Ghafir (The Forgiver) [40:16]
  • Yawma hum barizoona la yakhfa AAala Allahi minhum shayon limani almulku alyawma lillahi alwahidi alqahhari

40:16 The Day whereon they will (all) come forth: not a single thing concerning them is hidden from Allah. Whose will be the dominion that Day?” That of Allah, the One the Irresistible!

~That day you have no choices to make

~Ibrahim a.s (QaliluAllah:friend of Allah) will be the 1st to be dressed

~The babies, young children: their hair will turn grey, because of the fear of the Day of Yawmul Qiyamah

~The sweat, will drip all the way to the ground, and to some it will come up to their feet, some to their necks and some to their heads, and some will basically drown in it,all depending on the amount of sins committed in the dunya.

~”Ummati, Ummati, Ummati” The Prophet s.a.w. will speak to Allah concerning us, one of the first things he s.a.w. says .

~You don’t know anything about him s.a.w., yet the first thing he asks of Allah is concerning us. (Surah Tawbah, last ayah?)

~Jahnam will be angry with us for disobeying Allah, will have 70,000 zimam (ropes) and on those ropes their will be 70, 000 angles restraining it from us.

~Remember that if Allah says “Ya Abdillah (Oh my slave) did you do this…on this day…did you do this…” you are doomed, but if Allah says “go”..then by His mercy you will pass through

~Your passport to Jannah is your Salaah: Its the first thing you’ll be asked and if this is good then everything following it will be good

~Ahmed Ibn Hambal: Imam of Fiqh, Ahlal Hadeeth, he was once walking on the street, carrying a load and others to carry it for him. He said “If you knew my sins you would not want to sit with me”. This is Imam Ahmed Ibn Hambal who was described as being “more purer than the water from the sky”. He said this out of humulity, and gives light to keeping and not airing ones own sins as if you hide your sins in this dunya Allah will hide it for you in Yawmul Qiyamah

~It was also mentioned of a saying: “Allah is so patient, he gives me opportunity over opportunity, it is me who is behind close doors, working hard to commit ma3siyah, but Allah knows”

~The Hawd: The Pool: The Prophet s.a.w. will be there and the muslims will be there drinking from it and the people will be snatched by angles & the Prophet s.a.w would become sad and wonder why: the angles would say “You have no idea what they did”

~Naharol Hayaa: The river will drink from: become more beautiful: cleansed from inside and out: inside, no filth, no ill-feeling towards anyone, no jealousy.

*Finally, For the brothers: You shouldn’t be shaving in the dunya but in the akhirah they’ll be no need to shave in Jannah

Thats it for today, subhana’Allah, so much school work today, mid-term & papers. Alhamdulilah, till next time, May Allah makes things easy for us!
